Quilt Raffle for Nurses' Float
The drawing was held on December 6, 2011 at the official home of the Tournament of Roses in Pasadena. The Winner of the Quilt Raffle is Robyn Kennedy.
Robyn Kennedy, RN works at Mills Hospital Surgery Department. She is from New Zealand and has been in the US for over 30 years. She has been at Mills Hospital for 25 years working in the operating room. She is currently serving as the Interim Director. Mills is a busy hospital and their surgery department has a high volume of cataract, ENT and gender reassignment surgery cases. A colleague of Robyn's, Jill Stanfield, RN ,bought Robyn a ticket. Thinking that she would never win, she was thrilled when she was called that she was the lucky winner. Robyn shared with us that this holiday season has been difficult since her husband of 29 years, Robert, passed away about 4 months ago. She told us that "this quilt has given me something to look forward to receiving and getting in the mail." Congratulations Robyn and Enjoy!
Meet the Quilter
Maureen Pennington, CAPT, NC, USN, RN, BSN, MSN, CNOR who is a Captain in the Navy and is currently serving in Afghanistan donated the beautiful quilt for us to raffle. The flowers are colorful and represent the flowers Maureen saw on the floats when she watched the parade on TV as a little girl in cold Maine.
We are so grateful for this generous donation.
